Sorry but I'm working today and went out for lunch. From what I found, it's really hard to compare the two because they did play in two different eras. What they do have in common is that they are both tall and white. Here are some numbers I found on one article for you. I'd like to find some numbers for just the playoffs for comparison.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostI'm still waiting on your "google", and I know why...it won't help your case at all. I'm a Mav's fan, but I'm not blind. This is an age-old argument, no matter the sport. The "athlete of the moment" will win it, because it's "out of sight, out of mind". Bird had 47 games of 40 points or more, and 5 games with 50 or more points. More rebounds per game, more points per game, and about 3X the assists' per game.
Alot of what I've read said the numbers are really skewed because of the way basketball has changed and that they play there positions differently. Dirk tends to play from the perimeter and gets less rebounds. He also has less assists because he's the Mavs go to guy while Bird had a few go to guys to pass to. IMO I think Dirk is every bit as good as Bird was and still has a few more years left in him while Bird went out to back injuries that he got while pouring concrete for his drive way (didn't know that and pretty damn stupid IMO).Bird (13 seasons: 1979 - 92) 897 Games Played

According to his rants, he was born and raised in east L.A., what other team is there to root for in L.A, the Clippers? And the way hes sucking Kobes cock in this thread, hes a Fakers fan. Good for him, we finally got our revenge and we did it in sweeping fashion too...Originally posted by bcoop View PostI don't think Steve is a Laker fan? I may be wrong though...

Saying Kobe would beat Dirk one on one is ridiculous.
Two different types of players and games.

Can someone compare individual performance stats between the two and I bet they are a lot closer than you think. I'm off to Google now.

1 one 1, Kobe would still thrash Dirk.

That's what sports fans do, they make comparisons to the greats. Nobody is taking anything away from LB.
I disagree with the Kobe Dirk reference. Kobe can't hang anymore. 3-4 years ago, sure. But right now, Dirk is among the top 3 playing in the NBA currently. Some would put him at #1, some wouldn't. But he is top 3, and that's not deniable.

Hadn't thought about that. I thought it was a great foul out the time, even though Haywood got the flagrant call. Haywood for MVP! lolOriginally posted by mstng86 View PostDerek Harper made a really good point just now on the radio.
After Haywood knocked the shit out of Durant, Durant didn't look the same. Anyone see how much he nursed his wrist after that?
