who's your driver in the indy series?Originally posted by Grape View Post85% of the drivers bring the sponsors to the team to get the ride, when their money runs out, so does their career. Our driver for the indycar this year brought $500,000 and doesnt' need any signage on the car. Drivers are paying to drive race cars not the other way around. Dinger pays or drives for free just like he did in champ car, David Ragan and his father are close friends of mine, he wanted to get paid.
this is nothing new, Pete Hamilton won the daytona 500 in 1970 in a bought Petty ride..........

he does lol. not saying your wrong i dont know either.Originally posted by T-TOPPS5.0 View PostDo you work in/for nascar or a team? If so... please educate me on how it works. I never said he didnt know his stuff. I have learned a few things from him. But, his stating that I didnt know much about the sport (I never claimed to).... Having done a lot of meet and greets, I have had the pleasure of talking to a few people in the industry, and I was just stating that it wasnt up to the drivers to find sponsors.Originally posted by Couver View PostHe has or is working in the industry.... I know all about his success in off road. Thats what I said, he is successful elsewhere. Im not trying to downplay his successes there, but they dont have anything to do with his lack of success in nascar. He hasnt had much in nascar as a driver when he was with RCR or as an owner/driver. My point was, he isnt making much money because he sued another sanctioning body and stated himself that he couldnt afford to loose money to keep his operation going. How many open wheel drivers or drivers from other racing forms have had any real success other than Tony Stewart?Originally posted by Lone Sailor View PostRobby Gordon had successes before coming to Nascar which created some wealth to be able to run his own Cup team since the year 2000(IMSA, offroad, and open wheel racing). He also still has many other ventures that creates profits to fund his Cup and offroad teams.Last edited by T-TOPPS5.0; 12-24-2011, 12:25 PM.

But I rufuse to believe that all teams do so by choice. Some just dont have the funds period. And will never have them if they cant run well and pick up some decent money from sponsors. Robby Gordon should be an example.

Start a race, race a handful of laps, then park it and save the equipment for the next race. Keep doing that until you can afford some better engines, chassis, etc, and then they start getting a little more competitve. Just look at Furniture Row Racing, perfect example of what happens when you do it right.
