I was trying to be optomistic, I'm not a huge Mav's fan, so I could care less if they win 20. With no help around him, i expect him to ask to be traded by the deadline next February.

I think they can get 35, maybe 40 if Dirk plays like a beast. I don't think they will make the playoffs though, that's for sure. WC is too strong.Originally posted by JMAC View PostLooks like I'll scalp my tickets and walk to hooters to watch the Beatdowns that are ahead of us...
Over/under 30wins?

The Knicks have said that they are going to match any offer Lin gets. He's a restricted free agent.Originally posted by SouthernSVT View PostLin to the Rockets.

The NBA is 5-6 teams now - NY (NJ), LA, MIA, CHI, and maybe Boston. Everybody else is a farm team no matter how great Cuban (or anyone else) is as an owner. To hell with all the multi-millionaire crybabies.

Cuban already explained it in his twitter quip with the reporter from New Jersey: the new CBA. He thinks that the rest of the owners don't fully understand the luxury tax provisions in the new CBA and that in 2-3 years they'll be struggling under the penalties and mid-level exception limitations and will have to offload players, and he'll be sitting there with the cash and cap space to pick them up.Originally posted by bcoop View PostYou constantly bitch about this place, and look down your nose at everyone here, so why keep coming back?
Your comment was funny, but seriously, I can't figure out what the fuck Cuban is doing, and neither can anyone else. He just mailed it in, and it doesn't make any sense.
Whether he's right or not? I guess we'll see. But preparing for the long-term instead of trying to compete in the short term in the sillyness that is the current free agent market sounds fine to me.
I do have to take exception with everyone's notion that he should have brought the championship team back. I just don't see how committing big money over 3-5 years to the oldest team in the league was supposed to be a good move. THAT was a one and done strategy. If they didn't do it in the first two years then the Mavs were going to be a mediocre team heavy into the luxury tax with geriatric players who have little market value.
Then again, I can't stand the NBA, so I'm evaluating this from the outside looking in.

Looks like we will pick up Elton brand off of waivers, glad we had all the cap space!

For what though? A bunch of pics in the mid 20 range? We need young talent and/or high draft pics.Originally posted by Juiced4v View PostDirk to the Spurs
