I'm still good with the trade because as noted Odor is a fantastic second basemen. That and Kinsler had this annoying shoulder shrug he'd do every time he hit a pop fly on the first pitch, during his first at bat. It drove me nuts, he didn't really seem to care at all. Then he absolutely refused to switch positions to make room for Profar. He was getting paid millions of dollars a year to play a damned game and refused to do what he was told.

He was either going to get benched or traded. You can't really bench someone when you owe them $82 million dollars through the next several years so he was traded. Fielder was the absolute best hitter available at the time. Justin Morneau, Mark Trumbo, Vernon Wells and Marlon Byrd were the other decent hitters moved that offseason.

Of the options available at the time Fielder still looks pretty good in comparison. Obviously I'd love to have Trumbo right now since he's having a career year but we already had Byrd and he's a known PED user. Morneau should probably retire, he could only hit 17 HRs in Coloroda and Wells did retire.

Hey at least we didn't trade away Jake Arrieta (last years NL CY winner) for Scott Feldman. The Orioles did.

Before the trade Prince Fielder only missed 13 games in his career before coming to the Rangers.

Yeah he was a workhorse. I think he was like 25th most dependable player of all time.

Just saw that Fielder's career is over. He was a waste this year, and not bad last year when his neck was right. Rangers can get insurance money on his contract at some point. I'm not a huge fan of his, so it won't hurt my feelings if he doesn't make it back.

His neck wasn't right last year, either. The dude was one hell of a hitter, HOF trajectory like JD said. Sad that happened to him. He and his father both close their careers short with the same HR count and nearly identical RBI. Not on board with the whole Prince hate bullshit. Remember that guy (likely) fucked his life up going forward trying to entertain you.

He was pretty good last season. .305 average, 23 HRs and 98 RBIs. All of which were the best on the team.

True. And even in that season it was really about half the season where he was hot.

But, it was a good season stat wise.
