And enacting more gun control laws and still forbidding those who are licensed to carry to protect themselves in school is not a viable solution

I jut find it hard to believe that if at least one of the teachers in the surrounding classrooms had been armed that this tragedy couldn't have been averted, at least in part.
How so? He was mentally out of it, he didn't make a rational decision. He entered a classroom he shot his mother, a bunch if kids and then offed himself.

I'm saying it's highly unlikely. And there are less and less 70 year old teachers every day with most being fairly young and more and more are male. That fragile old lady? You don't know if she didn't work in a machine shop in WW2 and is a lifetime NRA member and can cut the center of the target out at 100 meters.

You act as if your possibility is likely. Hell, you want to get into possibilities, mount motion activated sentry guns in every class and anytime someone comes within a foot of the teacher's desk, it's activated. Or keyed to the teacher's voice. Fuck, I can come up with millions of possibilities. Also if you put an armed infantryman in every class in Sape plate armor, you are going to have a safer school.

Also this locked desk and biometric safe would have saved exactly zero lives in this scenario. The teacher never would have made it to the gun in time.

Just as you know that these elementary kids would somehow band together like Lord of the Flies and swarm the teacher, render her unconscious, drag her body to her desk, raid her pockets for keys, then use her hand to open a biometric safe and then take the weapon, load it and THEN start shooting, all the while the rest of the class remains calm and no one hears anything at all.

    You watch too many movies

These kids who are going to overpower a teacher, knock her out, drag her unconscious body over to her desk, use her key to open the drawer and then use her hand to open a biometric lock are the kind of kids who aren't going to bother and are going to pick up a Saturday night special and shoot everyone anyway.

I'm all for allowing teachers with a chl to carry, but when every student knows there's a gun in every classroom, it's only a matter of time before a kid gets a wild hair to try and get the gun.

So a kid knocks out the teacher and drags her to the biometric safe

What color do you dye those that try? Red, blue?

    ;-)
