Since 08, some teachers in the Harold School District with a CHL do carry while on school grounds.

    2. There are A LOT of schools in the area with armed police. If any of you have been to them, you'd most likely agree they'd be worthless against a determined killer. Most of them I see, seem real good at talking down to the student population and would probably shit themselves against a person pulling the trigger.

    3. I strongly agree with severe/nasty punishments for these sort of things. That WOULD be a good step towards determent.

The dude killed himself.. do you think he was worried about what "trouble" he would get in? He was obviously not in a rational state of mind.

Oh, and what enforcement mechanism do you see working on this John?

You also missed the point about having access. That doesnt mean you cant have them in the household, that just means it has to be stored in such a way that only authorized persons can get access.
How would that help if the kid in this situation knew where she kept them, overpowered her, unlocked the safe and shot her with her own... Oh wait. That's what happened.

How would you enforce that? Are you going to go to someone's home every time they buy a firearm and see? Are you going to interview everyone in the area to see their level of security expertise and demand safety accordingly? Or are you going to say "You're an adult, you buy this and use it wrong, you're in trouble?"

That was an early 90's flick. It's ironic now that the typical rapper/actor/musician is liberal and most are vehemently anti-gun. Sadly though that quote is dead-on. There is no reason to strictly limit possession of firearms in the general law-abiding public. The only reason it works is to keep the ones who would fight back in a prone position. The current illegal gun owners also tend to be the ones most likely to latch onto the government teat. They won't fight back. They won't help. They sure as fuck won't bite the hand that feeds them. They might be the ones to help should our government decide to squash a civil war. It's a dark road and I could talk about it all for hours.

Here's the clip from the movie BTW with that quote. It's hilarious and is one of my top 10 favorite movies. Has a great cult following.

People have been killing each other since the beginning of time. Tyrants that disarm citizens have killed the most. Who is more dangerous?
We need a media campaign in this country that tells people that it is ok to kill yourself, just leave the rest of us out of it.
An American's right to arms is a birthright. It is not "given" by the government. Arming more people and removing "gun free" killing zones IS the answer.

Had a teacher in a nearby classroom been armed, at the sound of the first shot, the outcome could have been definitively changed is my muse.

Fuck that guy and his mental state. He needed to be put down like a rabid animal. The gun free zone made certain that did not happen.
