1. I think ADULTS who are properly licensed/following state law for guns should be able to carry at schools. Not just stuff that makes the news, but plenty of adults are working in these thuggish areas until the early morning and it can be nerve racking leaving.

2. There are A LOT of schools in the area with armed police. If any of you have been to them, you'd most likely agree they'd be worthless against a determined killer. Most of them I see, seem real good at talking down to the student population and would probably shit themselves against a person pulling the trigger.

3. I strongly agree with severe/nasty punishments for these sort of things. That WOULD be a good step towards determent.

The dude killed himself.. do you think he was worried about what "trouble" he would get in? He was obviously not in a rational state of mind.

How would that help if the kid in this situation knew where she kept them, overpowered her, unlocked the safe and shot her with her own... Oh wait. That's what happened.

How would you enforce that? Are you going to go to someone's home every time they buy a firearm and see? Are you going to interview everyone in the area to see their level of security expertise and demand safety accordingly? Or are you going to say "You're an adult, you buy this and use it wrong, you're in trouble?"

Oddly enough, one of my favorite quotes EVER about the anti-gun types came from a spoof movie about a rap group called Fear Of A Black Hat:

That was an early 90's flick. It's ironic now that the typical rapper/actor/musician is liberal and most are vehemently anti-gun. Sadly though that quote is dead-on. There is no reason to strictly limit possession of firearms in the general law-abiding public. The only reason it works is to keep the ones who would fight back in a prone position. The current illegal gun owners also tend to be the ones most likely to latch onto the government teat. They won't fight back. They won't help. They sure as fuck won't bite the hand that feeds them. They might be the ones to help should our government decide to squash a civil war. It's a dark road and I could talk about it all for hours.

EDIT: You know what really bugs me about this whole thing? The idea that we need to be protected from every percieved threat. Not just this, but any threat anywhere. I think it's bullshit. We're not fucking cattle. We don't need to be herded around by shepherds we put in place over ourselves. We should face life head on, and embrace its challenges.

How so? He was mentally out of it, he didn't make a rational decision. He entered a classroom he shot his mother, a bunch if kids and then offed himself.

Had a teacher in a nearby classroom been armed, at the sound of the first shot, the outcome could have been definitively changed is my muse.

Fuck that guy and his mental state. He needed to be put down like a rabid animal. The gun free zone made certain that did not happen.
