    Only whores, strippers and mechanics. Sometimes all at the same time.

    Critical thinking will bring out the truth. Let this play out. How many do we have dead so far? A contractor a general and 176 in a 737. And the finger pointing begins!!!

    This Iran thing was already looking bad for Trump.

    Anyone not suffering from TDS knows better, but that's definitely already a common sentiment.

    The plane was shot down shortly after the missiles were fired at the base and the Iranians were expecting quick retaliation. I don't know much about those missiles. Could they have an areial proximity sensor that automatically went off and took out the plane?

The jetliner that got shot down deliberately departed regular civilian flight paths and then approached the u.s. ship on what appeared to be an attack run. It is suspected that the pilots were doing so under orders from the government in an attempt to be intimidating. The ship only fired after repeated attempts to contact the pilots failed.
    If you believe the official story one of our patrol helicopters was attacked so the cruiser it was based from was engaging Iranian flagged vessels and their Aegis system detected a jet diving at high speed right at them that originated from a field where F-14s were based.

    That field was also a commercial airport. The plane was climbing, the pilots were communicating in English and had their transponder on. So the ship was actively shooting at Iranian targets and was in Omani water when their Aegis system malfunctioned and didn't correctly identify the plane or it's vector. They made a judgement call under fire and decided to take the jet down.

    "mistook" = error

    Since this was pre-9/11 civilian airliners were not yet generally considered to be potential weapons.

    That's exactly what my $131.8MM comment was referencing.

    I wonder if Iran will make postage stamps this time.

    You dont think Iran shot down what they thought was a threat?

    This situation is extremely similar.

    The Ukrainian flight that crashed just outside the Iranian capital of Tehran was struck by an anti-aircraft missile system, a Pentagon official, a senior U.S. intelligence official and an Iraqi intelligence official told Newsweek.

    Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, a Boeing 737–800 en route from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airpot to Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport, stopped transmitting data Tuesday just minutes after takeoff and not long after Iran launched missiles at military bases housing U.S. and allied forces in neighboring Iraq.

    The aircraft is believed to have been struck by a Russia-built Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system, known to NATO as Gauntlet, the three officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, told Newsweek.
