If any of you guys have a house similar to mine, how much do you think it'd cost for some screens in the front ?

I used Lonestar last month have not seen the electric bill yet though. They are good people and quick. I was $740 for 14 windows. 5 of them having the grids on the front of the house. Be careful between 80% and 90% I went 90 all the way around and I have a full on cave going. I love it but it does cut down on the natural lighting inside. They did my estimate on a Weds and were installing them on a Saturday.

What is the visibility inward and outward of these things?

                    Outward fine.

Inward during the day? None. At night with light behind it? You can see in.

And at night, if you need to peek out your windows for any reason...you can practically forget about it.

Oh, and if you have plants that rely on light from the windows...forget about them too.

Very true. Solar screens are a great bang for the buck. If you're going to be in a home for 5+ years though - it is probably worth investing in high efficiency windows/doors though. They do make a big difference, even compared to builder grade windows with screens.

Edit: This is just my opinion after having both. I have no technical data to back it up.

Lone Star is the best period. Great service, great prices, and great product. I wish I owed the company as they are doing it right.
