I used Lonestar last month have not seen the electric bill yet though. They are good people and quick. I was $740 for 14 windows. 5 of them having the grids on the front of the house. Be careful between 80% and 90% I went 90 all the way around and I have a full on cave going. I love it but it does cut down on the natural lighting inside. They did my estimate on a Weds and were installing them on a Saturday.
Very true. Solar screens are a great bang for the buck. If you're going to be in a home for 5+ years though - it is probably worth investing in high efficiency windows/doors though. They do make a big difference, even compared to builder grade windows with screens.
Edit: This is just my opinion after having both. I have no technical data to back it up.

Lone Star here and my screens have been on since 2000, I had hail storms, wind, tornadic winds and they are still working and Ive never had a problem.
