I have been told that about the SBC's. It seems that the 302's last longer than a 350 or 305's don't really know what these guys use. If I had to use a SBC I would try to do a 283 or maybe a 327 for the shorter stroke like in a 302. I find it impossible to believe an SBC won't live. Any dirt track racer worth a nickel could make one run for hours at full throttle with some very minor pan/pickup/pump/oil control tricks.

That's what I was thinking when my buddy said he was going thru a bunch of 302's. I told him well shit put a SBC in that bitch then I won't have to keep fixing your damn c4 and he promptly said those damn SBC wont stay together. I told him to go tell that to the junkers down at the dirt track.
