It doesn't really look like rust to me, but if you say it is, then take it down to the dealer. The car still has a warranty, right? You bought an assembly-line FORD, not a handcrafted Bugatti. There are going to be defects.

When you visit your dealer, I suggest telling them you are "concerned" and not:

I don't think that is the right approach at all. The best way to get immediate results is to completely fly off the handle to let them know who is boss, and tell them you are sick of dirt getting in the goddamn cracks of your new car and want it repaired immediately while you wait. You might even get some free oil changes out of it.

Shit definitely isn't made like it used to be. I've had my f150 for 6mo and already the damn emblem fell off the tailgate ($50) and the gas tank door broke and fell of in my hand the other day when I was getting gas.

My tailgate emblem fell off as well last summer. The ford badge on tailgate and the "Texas Edition" badge double sided tape pretty much melted and the badge slid down the tail gate.

My gas door I thought I broke, but the door cover slides and locks into the hinge deal.

My rear window also leaked, and the wire harness plug for the tranny leaked no matter what ford did.

This was a 09... don't miss it at all.

My bad it's an 09. I've only owned it 6 months. Still, shit is falling off of it !!!

There is a 5 year warranty against rust. (kinda short if you ask me) If it is rust go to a dealership.

Every car and ever make has there issues. I've got two friends at work who have 5.0's
One has an 11 the other has a 12
The 11 has had no issues however the 12 ( white ) has had to be reprinted to do paint not matching not to mention the door panel literally pulled off when shutting the door.
As stated its assembled by people on a assembly line shit happens.

Take it to the dealer but don't fly off the handle. Let them attempt to fix it.
