Not really, that's about right... 350-400 for cam, 400-500 for valve springs, 120 for pushrods, and 550-600 labor... Usually do a timing chain setup too for another 120-180...

If you get some used shit, jankier springs or do it yourself, yes obviously it'd be cheaper... But he was comparing it to a 4v swap, which is not something a garage mechanic is going to want to tackle.

I think Valve Springs go new right at $320 with Retainers & pushrods are about right. I think $1200 is the norm if you pay for new parts.
