    Indeed.

Mexi-nigga! I've been saying the same thing. Politics is the modern brand loyalty test that has replaced Ford v. Chevy.

You're white, you have a leg up on staying out. I understand diplomacy, I'm just ready for a little anarchy.

Simply ask if you are being retained or under arrest. If you are not, then walk away. It's basically the same thing.
If you allow your rights to be abused, then LE will lose respect for said rights and will not care if you cry foul or if they are wrong. Your rights will be (are) meaningless to them. One day, maybe it will be you bankrupting your family having to defend your word (and rights) against a JBT that looked at you as vermin.
I don't know about anybody else but I have never seen a random guy walking down the side of a highway with an AR hanging on his chest. It would make me a little skeptical of what he was doing. I get that its not against the law. That cop didnt give a crap about taking the right to carry a gun like that. He just wanted to question the guy without the risk of anybody getting hurt.

No joke. If you don't plan on shooting someone them give it up for a few minutes.

And when I think of disarming someone I think of taking the weapon and not giving it back. I see nothing wrong with taking the weapon to ask a few questions.

Good god I'm not saying his rights weren't violated and I'm not saying that civil rights isn't something to take serious. Ill go walk down a road with a shotgun and if a police officer wants to disarm me first to ask what I was up to I wouldn't care. It's not like he's taking it for good. I especially wouldn't care if I had another pistol on me.

Call it age, education, whatever, but the older I get, the less I respect police (and authority in general) and feel they are really ineffective, on a grand scale.

This deal is one of the one's the cops did not handle well. It turned into a pissing match. BOTH sides could have handled it better.

You guys gotta start looking at this on a higher level. we have to take back our goverment (peacefully hopefully). We have to put people in office that will represent us and our conservative gun toting views. People outside of Texas think most Texans are a bunch of secession screaming yahoo's that want to carry guns and drink and drive.
look at Michigan and New Jersey. The middle easterners have moved in and taken over whole areas. They VOTE in their people and in some areas want to impose Sharia law. They have a plan and execute it. If we don't wise up and take this bull by the horns, you can kiss your guns and a whole lot of other rights good bye...

We've carried guns for years. Wanting to open carry an AR15 down the street accomplishes what ?
In this case in particular, he was in BFE on rural road, not doing some demonstration in downtown:

"Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham was on a ten-mile Boy Scout hike with his son in Texas when he was arrested and accused of “rudely displaying” his firearm. Knowing there are wild boars, coyotes, and cougars in the area, he had an AR-15 rifle slung over his shoulder and was also carrying a .45 caliber pistol, according to Fox News’ Todd Starnes.

The same thing anyone who exercises a right hopes to accomplish. Exercising their right. Most of us would like to be able to legally open carry as carrying when it's 100 outside is really a bitch if you have to dress to conceal.

Don't get me wrong here, I love guns. It just seems the ones that one's that want to do this "demonstrations" are sometimes more harmful to the cause. They come off like a bunch of yahoo's which perpetuates the stereotype of redneck gun owners. This does nothing for the cause in my opinion.
For the MOST part, if you look at the videos like this, the cops do fine with their response. Face it, this is something new and some of the lesser educated cops aren't going to come off too well. Grisham got convicted by his peers in his community after they viewed the video. I guess the citizens of that county had a problem with what happened.
Personally , I don't want anyone to know I'm packing. I think that gives me a tactical edge. While they focus on what they're wanting, I can get my plan worked out and handle what I need to.

Let's play your game for a minute. You've seen the headlines where certain punk kids are playing a game called 'Knockout' right? Do you think someone that is exercising their right to open carry would be a victim of that game? Who knows what reason someone wants to open carry for -- it doesn't matter. The point is that they legally can do so and choose to exercise that right.
