My first pistol that I still have is a Springfield National Match all billet made in 1991, the last of their billet slides back then. It has had a good 2-3000 rounds through it and it runs like a top. Never had a failure. Even with the simple sights I am an artist with it.
My old man has a STI Nighthawk and a few other high ends. They are all extremely tight guns. Infact the you almost have to cock the hammer first on the Nighthawk to pull the slide to the rear. But I would not expect any less of a gun that retails for north of $3,000.
If I was in the market for a new 1911 and had a budget under $1,400 I would go either Kimber or Sprinfield.

A buddy of mine has 2 ed browns. Way out of my price range but so very nice to shoot. I really like the Cobra scales for the slide and grip.

x2. I'll be burried with my 38 super, love that gun. Love my colts period. I'll be picking up a commander in 38 super soon if I have my way.Originally posted by Cobra86 View PostJust buy a Colt. If you don't like it there is always a great resale market. For 1911's there is Colt and then there is everything else.

Mine was extremely tight as well. it was extremely heavy and hard on follow up shots because the trigger was to heavy and the recoil was pretty rough.Originally posted by ThreeFingerPete View PostWhat do you mean by "klunky"? All of the les baers that I've shot have been super tight. A couple in fact that were so tight that some people could not pull the slide back.
most definately not as smooth and crisp as the wilson (the cartirage may have a ton to do with it) i havent shot a .45 wilson yet

Traded it for a wilson combat spec ops9 and never turned back.
Now im a believer in wilsons, but i still think they are really expensive and probably wouldnt buy one due to price.

Kimber is a name for a stripper...not a badass handgun!Originally posted by Jose View PostI have two and love them. Sure they may "seem" overpriced but what custom 1911 isn't now a days? As far as gay logo, you gotta be kidding right? Seriously?
The ones I looked at were nice but not worth what they were asking, especially compared to the price on the DE. Most of the kimber pistols were designed for carry use and that was not the purpose of this purchase. I already have a carry weapon so no need to spend big money....although I ended up spending about $150 more than I wanted, but this is $600 more gun than what I was looking at. VERY NICE! May go shoot it this afternoon.

I can understand, but there is a reason that bandwagon is huge. They are a great gun.This. I've enjoyed every Kimber I have fired and held. I soooooo badly want a Super Carry Custom, just the way the grip fits in the hand and how light it is. Oh so nice.Originally posted by aggie97 View PostGhetto better than gay!
Mostly just didn't want to jump on the "Kimber Wagon"...even though I'm jumping on the 1911 wagon!
