You should try the Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz, The Hidden War by Artyom Borovik, or The Iron Wall by Avi Shlaim. Some of my favorite non fictions I've read this year. 1) Escape from Siberian prison 2) Russia/Afghanistan from Russian perspective 3) Concise history of Israeli's foreign and military relations.

True, hoping to read a couple in January before cranking up CFA Lvl 3 studying in February. Nothing but school/CFA for the last 3 years, and now I have to take 4 of the FINRA license tests for work. FML.

About to re-read World War Z by Max Brooks. Hiiiiighly recommend reading.

Also about to read Guns of the South by Harry Turtledove. Premise is pretty interesting involving what would happen if General Lee was introduced to a little weapon called the AK47 by some mysterious strangers.

Coltrane on Coltrane: The John Coltrane Interviews

It's a collection of transcriptions/magazine articles of all of the published and some unpublished interviews that John Coltrane gave during his career. It's really, really interesting.

I always have more than one book going at once. Currently reading:

    Rocket Men -Craig Nelson
"The epic story of the first men on them moon"

A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson
"From primordial nothingness to this very moment, A Short History of Nearly Everything reports what happened and how humans figured it out"

    Unscientific America - Chris Mooney
"How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens our Future"

The Alchemy of Air - Thomas Hager
"A Jewish Genius, a Doomed Tycoon, and the Scientific Discovery That Fed the World but Fueled the Rise of Hitler"

Jennifer Government is pretty goddamn entertaining. The bit with the Ferrari is so over the top it's hilarious. If you like it, his first book, Syrup, is ten times better.

Also have Born to Run on the shelf but haven't started it.

I've been working on Walden by Thoreau for six months. Just don't have time for recreational reading being back in college. I've got about 30 books on my shelf waiting for more time.
