Who else has a 'bug out bag' or 'bug out vehicle'?

My family has a small manor on the tip of a peninsula on a large lake in Texas that we use for recreational purposes. We keep a stash of food, guns, ammo, fishing gear, vehicles, and gasoline there in case something goes down.

Our bug out plan is to get in the family plane and get up there.

We have the same plan except with our helicopter and we have to bring our butler and maid staff along.

Plenty of Ammo for a few assorted Arms.
Bow for conserving ammo with plenty of "practice arrows"
We always have lots of: 1 gal Water Jugs on hand, non-perishables, hand-crank radio, and a few solar appliances.

Truck is 4wd with metal bumpers.

Id load up the lady, kid, and dogs and head south to my parents place in the woods.

aye you are right, I was thinking Mineral Co went further east, but Hinsdale goes further south.





right here at the point of this lightning bolt is an extremely self sufficient cabin that is off the grid. It has everything, and i mean everything. If you are ever up that way on some trails and come across it (it is somewhat hidden but the only thing out there) the guy's name is Steven, you should stop and say hi. Friendliest guy you will ever meet, just a bit weird at times.

I wish! There are a few shotguns, SKSs, handguns, and a some odds and ends all complimented by a few thousand rounds.

How do you get from the house/hold up spot, to the airport?

You mean from my Dallas place of residence to the airplane hanger? I guess I would walk. It would be maybe 1-2 hours by foot.

There is one road into my hold up spot, and it is many miles long with nothing but trees on each side. The peninsula is about an 8th of a mile wide for quite a ways and easily fortified.

Haven't thought too much about this, but this plan has always been in the back of my head.

I keep a case of .45 full metals for my Glock 21....not just a box, a case full of 50ct boxes....I can't recall, but I think there are 40-50 boxes in there. I also have four 13-round clips for it and a speed loader. Have about 2000 12-gauge rounds to go with a sawed off pump, several hundred 20-gauge shells to go with a semi-auto 20-gauge shotgun that is wearing a choke and is fairly lightweight. Beyond those just a few other shotguns and rifles and several other handguns that I typically have 3-4 boxes of shells for at any given time. I don't have anything really long range...mostly medium and close range stuff....I am a damned good shot with my favorite handgun, a Colt Super-38 semi-auto...but I've been shooting it since I was a kid...inherited it from my grand dad when I was 17....however, it's expensive to buy shells for too...I usually only keep a few boxes around for it. I think we'd be protected for a while though.

For supplies I have a wind-up radio, a solar re-chargable lantern, typically have quite a bit of bottled water on-hand, as well as non-perishables. I also have an essentials kit that has basic stuff like fire and first aid supplies...the stuff that might otherwise be taken for granted. I'm not paranoid or anything though...most of this I've gotten as a result of moving to the country!

It wouldn't take me long to grab my ol' lady and dogs, throw some camping gear in the F250, swing by Arlington to grab my mom, sis, and neices, and we'd be on our way to the mountains. However, I'm not concerned about needing to do so, other than for vacation.
