So, Matt, Forrest, and Brent, do you want people in charge of your kids high on a legal drug while in their care???

People do stupid shit while high.
I never limited committing a crime to weed use. How about the home invasion I saw off of Mansfield Hwy where a guy was shot and killed because he was selling weed and infringing on someone else's turf? Drug related crimes encompass a broad spectrum of problems.
You never talk to that lawyer on your street that tokes up everynight, or you just don't know.

People molesting kids and shit are going to molest kids with, or without drugs. No person who would not normally do something like that, would go and do it because he smoked a joint. That's ridiculous.
And again, people don't steal/prostitute/murder to get their next weed fix. Meth, heroin, crack, coke, etc; sure. But not weed.

Let me think about that......................................

PLENTY of people out there only use cannabis. They are successful members of society who happen to enjoy it.
I prefer alcohol, but I just think the fact that marijuana is illegal is absurd.
Due to the percentage of the population that commit crimes over weed, go to the next drug because weed no longer does the job, and a lot of other factors just mean that I cannot support legalization of weed.

You never addressed my points.
Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostYes, people will commit crimes to get MJ, because if it were made legal tomorrow, how long does it take to grow an adult plant for production? I know it might take several years to make a mature plant. Also, if you steal MJ, how the hell are you going to prove it isn't yours? You can't serialize MJ. Since it would be hard to prove that you didn't get it illegally, how are you going to prove that the guy stole it from you?
Juvenile burglars do break into homes for alchohol, because it is hard to buy it when you are 16. Like juveniles break $600 car windows to get a $5 pack of cigarettes because the local mom&pop store won't sell it to them.
It's not "someone I've seen", after 20 years I've seen a lot more than just one or two. I've seen people high molest kids and kill people over dope.
I don't have a perfect answer, just like you don't. But you will never convince me that making drugs legal will solve our problems. I don't want a high bus driver taking my kids to school, I don't want a high welder putting together a 30 story building, I don't want a high surgeon taking my appendix.
Are you saying that you are perfectly fine with having your children exposed to a legal narcotic? Do you let kids smoke with you now?

I'm going to decline to comment about obesity laws. That's a slippery slope.
What to you want me to say about prohibition? MJ is illegal like alchohol was back in the 20's. Did it work then? No, people still made it. MJ is illegal today, do people still grow it? Yes.
WTF do you want me to say?

So now we should have laws regulating how much food someone intakes, because food can be addictive too, and cost taxpayers a lot of money due to obesity?
Stick to the topic. We're talking about leglization of marijuana, Forrest has compared it to prohibition with almost every comment he's made relating it's legalization to the legalization of alcohol.

Weed and other drugs go hand in hand. My last good traffic stop was under 4 ounces of weed and 40 dime rocks of crack, oh, and a gun. There is no way you can say that society's probelms would not mutiply if we just allowed weed.
