First this should be a poll.

Second, what I always find hilarious is fat men making fun of other fat people and women especially. Its like dude really, have you seen the set of twins you are carrying around in your belly!!

    rant off....

LMAO, I'm no thug. It's just not possible for me to intimidate anyone, just doesn't work for me the way I look so I don't even try.

I don't train Bjj for self defense. I train for the workout, the friends I have made, and the sporting aspect.

If I was that worried about self defense I would do more wind sprints and have my chl. But that's just my opinion.

Of course I don't pick fights with random people, thats silly. I've always trained in gyms/schools against other martial artists and street fighters. I've had alot of "challenge matches" against all sorts of people that I've had setup in a safer location, to me, that is fun and a test of myself rather than just a fight to beat some dude up.

I was born and raised in West Los Angeles at the high point of street gangs in the 80s/90's. I got ALOT of practice in street fights being the only white kid in the neighborhood and not gangbanging. It was entertainment for them to see the scrappy white kid not back down from a bunch of thugs, after awhile they even respected me for it. I was exposed to martial arts and found out I was good at it, so it became an obessesion for me. There was no sense in me training for some ring fight when that wasn't the way I was going need the training most often.

After that, I've trained in just about any martial art you can think of trying to find what works and fits for me and what doesn't. We've all got our passions ( at least I hope you do) mine just happens to be one that is scary or strange for most people to understand.

I'm not your typical martial artist who practices one art for some paticular time to learn a little self defense, I take it much further than that.

This is true. I've had my share for sure. Something about the way I look, people find it difficult to believe and tend to want to test themselves and myself. I'm an example of why people shouldn't buy into stereotypes. My natural camoflauge has worked for me alot of times, but it also works against me alot because I don't look like a toughguy, but rather the Gerber baby. lol.

You're an advanced blue, I can understand you struggling abit with someone like Adam because of strength difference, but I would think you'd still be able to work through it with being more advanced in technique. If it's a street fight with a random monster with no training, it's even easier.

I dunno, maybe I've got it twisted. I'm not a small guy like you, but at my natural weight (200lbs), I'm not a "big" guy either. I'm only 5'8 or so. Once I get my weight down, Nate will be a bigger guy then I am. I don't see why at his size (he's pretty strong too, he doesn't give himself enough credit) I don't see why he would be complaining about weight differences. Anyone he gets into a fight with on the street, is going to be bigger than him, it's something he needs to learn to deal with, otherwise BJJ isn't going to help him at all.

I certainly don't think Drysdale is a "big" guy either, maybe I've just been rolling with huge monsters for too long now. lol. I'll find out soon when I go out there in Febuary to see my brother. While I'm there I'm planning a couple of drop in's and a private with him.

The guy I fought at NAGA, that was a freak accident. Even though he was 6'3 @ 369lbs lol, had I not hurt my knee I could have handled him still I think. Hurting my knee has actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it's really made me concentrate on very detailed technique work and working my guard.

JMO's is all. Thanks for joining the conversation finally though. I do enjoy them alot with other BJJ guys.

I agree completely. I wouldn't call that guy in those pics fat at all. Just a big dude.

I'm a small guy who's reminded every time I roll just how much size does matter.

BTW you had me LOL at tapping like Sammy Davis Jr.

I'm 307lbs in this photo for example.

    again over 300lbs

I've definitely put some weight on, but I'll have it off again. Seems I'm very apt to stop my regular exercising routine, I probably need some friends to work out with on a regular basis. I'm fat for a simple reason, I eat too damn much and don't exercise enough. Pretty simple conclusion.
300 lbs?? How tall are you? I have a good friend who is 6' 1" 290 and he's a lot bigger than you appear in that picture.
