BTW, to DOCHTR - I apologize for being so harsh. Most of what I was pontificating about wasn't even necessarily directed at you personally. Hell, I don't even know you.

In reality it was pretty unfair to make some of the jabs at your expense.

Sorry to anyone else I may have offended too, didn't really mean anything personal.

As I said earlier, probably am just on the rag..

What do you mean you don't know? Is your board-issued crystal ball of doom broken, or did you leave it somewhere? Can you not draw from your personal experiences of going through the collapse of a giant nation in this modern world, just like the rest of the members here? And heck, if you're not sure, fake it. When in doubt, just believe that the only possible outcome is the one with the most doom and gloom. That's the way we roll.

But heck, it really doesn't matter what you know or do. It's already too late! You might as well bail, too. Just about any country is better than this one, right?

I didn't say my opinion made this country, I say my type of opinion. I'm not Talisman, I know I don't control shit.

Its now come to the point of hatred. It doesnt matter that the majority of the country is in the middle politically - those who represent us fall prey to the extremes, the religious right or the liberal left. And they are entrenched, squared off and focused 100% on themselves, country be damned.

How as a citizen of Texas can I have Diane Feinstein removed from office? Or the wacked out Michele Bachmann from Minnesota? You cant - they've elected their reps. All you can do is vote for your Rep and Senator, and they are going to be just play the same political game as the rest.

The country is run, ruled and controlled by special interest groups. And unless youve got the $$$ to fund a competing group, you are SOL.

I'm not going to leave, i'm not even going to disparage anyone who feels like thats the best option for them. I've just accepted that there is very little power in my hands beyond voting for 3 people to represent my ideals in the federal govt (house, senate and president). Thats it. Take up arms against the govt? Dont be stupid. i would rather while away my days as an old poor man than commit suicide by trying to overthrow the govt.
    Very well put.
