I grew up poor. I've worked my ass off only to realize that the harder I work the more I have to give to lazy scrubs that now make up the majority. I've also gotten to see my dollar worth less.

You can't "fix" stupid. And since the majority of the country has shifted from a self-reliance and personal responsibility mentality to "the government should provide for me", there isnt any amount of "getting involved" thats going to change anything.

The deck is stacked and its too late in the game. Society is too polarized in the extremes. There was a time where being a Republican or Democrat wasnt a big deal. Its now come to the point of hatred. It doesnt matter that the majority of the country is in the middle politically - those who represent us fall prey to the extremes, the religious right or the liberal left. And they are entrenched, squared off and focused 100% on themselves, country be damned.

How as a citizen of Texas can I have Diane Feinstein removed from office? Or the wacked out Michele Bachmann from Minnesota? You cant - they've elected their reps. All you can do is vote for your Rep and Senator, and they are going to be just play the same political game as the rest.

The country is run, ruled and controlled by special interest groups. And unless youve got the $$$ to fund a competing group, you are SOL.

I'm not going to leave, i'm not even going to disparage anyone who feels like thats the best option for them. I've just accepted that there is very little power in my hands beyond voting for 3 people to represent my ideals in the federal govt (house, senate and president). Thats it. Take up arms against the govt? Dont be stupid. i would rather while away my days as an old poor man than commit suicide by trying to overthrow the govt.
