Guest repliedI love my 99 F150, gas mileage isn't terrible on it. I have been thinking about selling it and trying to get a mustang. I did not wreck my first car, which was a 94 3000gt sl my mom bought me for 3k. Well she didn't like me having a car that she thought was fast. I didn't pay for it so I didn't have much say in the matter. Ended up with a POS 2000 Celica gt. Gas was great, I paid 40 bucks for a full tank. Then I hydroplaned into a telephone pole. Snapped the front axle etc. With the money from the insurance I got my truck. I do agree with getting him something reliable, but don't get him something brand new. Get him a standard transmission 99-04 mustang or a focus svt or something along those lines.

I think you're spoiling him. Get him something older, something to work on a bit. That way he will learn something to pass on to his children.
Something American...

The biggest thing I noticed when I started driving was the shittier the car, the more fun we had.

Right now he is 14. But by this time next year (15), I pla on having a car for him. He wanted a 2010 Camaro or Mustang. Just trying to stay away from that.

I bought one of my sons a 96 Cougar with a blown head gasket for $250.00 dollars. I had him read the Chiltons covering the car then supervised him replacing the head gasket. I wouldn't allow him to use any air tools. It was a great project for the both of us and the car ran flawless for two years. However, this car continually had mysterious dents show up on it. Teenagers are not particular about the vehicle, as long as it keeps running.
