What is a continously variable transmission?
Definition: transmission with parts consisting of unobtainium, and mostly made up of glass like structures.

Right now he is 14. But by this time next year (15), I pla on having a car for him. He wanted a 2010 Camaro or Mustang. Just trying to stay away from that.
If he wants a 2010 Mustang or Camaro, he can buy one himself IMO.

I'd say a 97'-01 Taurus.. cheap- plenty in the boneyard for parts and still not too bad gas milage..

Get a jeep, they are fairly cheap and get good gas mileage.. I mean hell it's probably going to end up wrecked anyhow..

My parents gave me a choice.

    1) Drive whatever we get you. You pay, Gas, Insurance, normal wear and tear maintenance...
    2) Pick a vehicle with a cost of $X,XXX max price, (had to have their approval on make/model) I pay car payment, gas, maintenance, they pay insurance...

I liked option 2. If it was horrible on gas, that was my choice and I had to foot the bill for the fuel anyway...
