Lots of really good tech info here:

Find your nearest digital TV transmitter with Antennas Direct's mapping tool. It's a quick and easy way to find digital television transmitters (DTVs) nearest to your location.

Please be aware that most long range HD antennas are set up for use in the UHF band.

More info can be found in the link above....

I tried making on similar to the one below about a year ago. Results were less than impressive. Maybe I'm doing it wrong lol

I would prefer it to be in the attic for cosmetic reasons. But I doubt it would be powerful enough. Outdoor is fine.

    Here's a good link:

Antennas Direct offers long-range indoor, attic, and outdoor TV antennas engineered specifically for homes within 70 miles from the broadcast towers.

We have to pay for 2 boxes in the RV, I have one in the Living room & one in the Bedroom. But we paid $200 for the equipment instead of paying to rent the equipment & pay the extra $7 per box for the RV that just looks like we have a total of 4 Boxes on our plan & would never know our bill covers two different address's, I think it comes out for both places & all our boxes with DVR at our home address to $90 a month with taxes for both address's

Get a regular antenna for over-the-air HD for sports...

We've been without cable for years.

We have an HD antenna for the big games and a Sony Internet streaming box for Netflix\VUDU\et al.

We only watch about 2 or 3 shows that come from cable channels, and the interwebz is a very good place for "finding" these episodes the next day after they air for free.... lol
