Then you sit are an exception. A lot of insurance companies charge a premium just for having a v8, before you get to rates.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostMy liability only insurance for the cobra was only $15 more a month than my v6 truck.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

i think the escape looks like more of a chick car...Originally posted by talisman View PostI think a V-6 Escape is the way to go. Decent milage, space, cheapish. Xterra's are for 19 year old girls.
not a bad idea.Originally posted by LaserSVT View PostPanther platform car. Cheap parts, easy to work on, very safe and even though its a RWD V8 car they aint fast. I have several customers pushing 300k on theirs and the cars are still rock solid.
i would have HATED driving a V6 mustang. That said, i did have a 91 camaro RS with a 305 tbi that lost to a I6 96f150. I think a v6 mustang own on it.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostDude, just get him a GT. And make it a stick, every MAN should know how to drive a stick. It's not really that fast, but it sounds good and looks good and he'll think it's fast. Plus it sends a signal to him that you have a little bit of trust that he won't F up.
Don't get him a V6 Mustang. Oh man can you imagine how much you would HATE to drive around in an old shitbox V6 Mustang? Don't do that to your son.
But then again, I think everyone should own a fullsize truck when they're young and have friends and are moving around all the time. I think you're on the right track. Just let him drive a couple of different cars and see what he thinks.

I'm a Ford guy, but the Escape is waaaaaay more of a chick car than the Xterra. Smaller, less capable off-road, less rugged looking, etc.Originally posted by talisman View PostI think a V-6 Escape is the way to go. Decent milage, space, cheapish. Xterra's are for 19 year old girls.
I vote V6 extended cab Ranger. My buddy had a 96 that ran forever and We beat the crap out of it.
Explorers are good, too, but a pickup is more versatile.
As for the v6 Mustang, he may not care at first, but once he has one, he'll only wish he had a real one, I mean a v8.

I had a 2003 ranger edge ext cab with the 4.0 SOHC motor. I loved that truck.Originally posted by jluv View PostI'm a Ford guy, but the Escape is waaaaaay more of a chick car than the Xterra. Smaller, less capable off-road, less rugged looking, etc.

I got a 1995 Nissan 200sx w/ 5sp. I still have it today and i'm graduating college in May. I don't think i will ever get rid of it. I learned how to work on on cars with it blowing up and it taught me many other lessons.Originally posted by 56482only on DFWMUstangs...

We had one, two tanks lasted him about two weeks, it got about 16 mpg. If Craig wants to get his son a bitch car or truck*, I guess go ahead.Originally posted by Swamp Donkey View Post4k per month in gas
