I make well over what you consider good money, and chose to drive around in a beater Camry. I personally know a few others that do the same thing, so I wouldn't say it's all that rare.

But people who have a bunch of money drive beaters like that. That's one of the reasons they have been able to build the wealth.Originally posted by 8mpg View Postlol.. there are rare exceptions usually people who make a bunch of money dont drive busted 87 Mustangs as a daily driver.

I know a few lowly uta grads clearing in the 80s just a few years outta school (undergrad)...haha. I also know people without degrees doing better. There is money to be had!!!!Originally posted by Vertnut View PostI'm betting it's a low percentage. We'll never know. I DO know that my daughter is close to that less than two years out of school...and to think all the shit I took about people saying McCombs wasn't "worth it".

What does a persons vehicle have to do with their annual income?Originally posted by 8mpg View PostYes, I doubt there are really that many. There are lots of people here that drive hoopties, are not educated, come across as morons, etc. I do not think that DFWM has some radical plethora of people that make over $70k a year compared to the rest of the US.

I hope it wasn't me that came across like, if so it was unintentional. Russell is a good guy and whatever makes him happy is what he should go after. When I was single and in the miltary I was making just over $30k/year and that was plenty of money for me; now married, have a kid, and a house so it takes more to survive.Originally posted by 8mpg View Post
I find it more interesting that people dont think teh OP will make enough money. He isnt shy to say that making $19/hr is $10/hr more than he makes now. For people to try and belittle him or act like they are better because they make more is crazy. Greenville expenses Im sure are less than they are here in DFW. To top it off, he is surviving. $10/hr raise would be a great leap for him.
Obviously everyone would like to make as much much money as possible, but it is better to do what Russell did and be realistic about what you would be able to live off of comfortably. That all plays into lifestyle and hobbies of the individual so that makes the whole question of what is GOOD money relative to the person answering.

Some people need better reading comprehension skills. My comment was in no way belittling the OP. Nor did the OP take it that way.

Well, did you expect anything less from this board? Most of us had to start somewhere, although some don't like/want to admit it...Originally posted by 8mpg View PostI find it more interesting that people dont think teh OP will make enough money. I did that after the first interview via email. I will send a handwritten one out tomorrow. As for those offering help, send me what you have!Originally posted by lo3oz View PostDon't know if it's your style or not, but i've had good luck/success sending brief thank you notes to the interviewing party the day after. it's a good way to keep your name fresh on their minds.

I wouldnt say people are telling him makin 40K isn't enough as a person, they're speaking relative to the job. He did ask for help with the financial side of the offer after all.Originally posted by 8mpg View PostVery true...the DFW area, $70k is good to me. Houses are affordable, gas is cheap compared to the rest of the nation, etc. I guess like sc281 says it is all relative to your expenses.
I have definitely found the more I make, the more I spend which leaves me about where I was.

As far as the other good vs GOOD...that's all relative. I make pretty decent money but am stupidly good at blowing it as well. That's why I say GOOD money is so high.
