Are you missing the consenting adult part? 6, nor 9 is legally classified as an adult.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostThe prophet Muhammad married a wife (one of many) when she was six and first consumated the marriage when she was nine. Slippery slope indeed.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Do you understand the meaning of slippery slope?Originally posted by bcoop View PostAre you missing the consenting adult part? 6, nor 9 is legally classified as an adult.
Tell me why we have made 18 the age of consent. Why have we decided as a society to discriminate on the basis of age? When the government pays, the government controls.

Sure I do, but I see it as pretty black and white, personally. Slippery slopes usually consist of grey areas. I don't really see any grey areas. You're either an adult, or you're not. There is no in between.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostDo you understand the meaning of slippery slope?Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I wish people would stop using slippery slope when it comes to moral obligations and precedents. It's a form of logical fallacy, so if you want to apply it, apply it correctly please.

I think some laws come from nature. Not a bible reference, just an example. If Adam hooked up with Bubba, none of us would be here.Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Because the maturity level of adults is different than that of children. When adult decisions have life long consequences, you have to have a dividing line of some sort, wouldn't you agree?Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostI edited my post.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I don't know why, Danny, but I do know this: Without poligamy we never read a headline in the Salt Lake City Tribune saying, "POLICE DISCOVER MURDER MURDER MURDER MURDER SUICIDE"Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostBecause the entire basis of legalizing gay marriage is the idea of freedom of expression between consenting adults.
So tell me, why is polygamy illegal?sigpic

I agree and lots of these things are at the state level right now. I agree that the federal government should not be part of this conversation.Originally posted by bcoop View PostThat's really the only reason I can think of, health issues. But I don't really think it's the Fed's right to say anything about it at all. They can't really force sterilization in those situations. I think if anything it should be left to the State level. Marriage isn't mentioned anywhere in the Constitution, or Bill of Rights. Which is exactly why I can't understand why the Federal Govt has any say in the matter at all. If it were at least left to the States, all the homosexuals could go to MA, MD, and CA. And all the sister fuckers can migrate to Arkansas. That way it's not outright banned, they still have refuge somewhere in the US.
This is also a states right. Many different states have different ages for legal consent which I believe Idaho or somewhere around there is 16. Check out the TILF threadOriginally posted by 46Tbird View PostDo you understand the meaning of slippery slope?
