  • Do you have cable/dish TV service?

We are thinking about dropping the TV part of our tv/internet package, since we dont use it much at all. Netflix, dvd's and a googlecast has taken over.

With the olympics coming up, I was thinking it might be difficult to watch that, but I think it is on network that we can pick up with an antenna, right?

Anyone cut the cable and miss it?

Wife and I agreed to cut TV from our cable service some time ago. I've never missed it.

That being said, TWC calls me from time to time harassing me about signing up for basic cable, but the phone call never lasts long.
Scientists do not coddle ideas. They crash test them. They run them into a brick wall at 60 miles per hour and then examine the pieces.

If the idea is sound, the pieces will be that of the wall.

I have Dish and cut it all the way back to the basic package. I use Netflix more than anything, but don't really watch much TV.

It did suck not having AMC for Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, but that's on Netflix and I'll just wait for the most recent seasons.

Flip side, I did start getting messages from AT&T (my DSL) that I was hitting max downloads on my data plan. Didn't even know I had a maximum on DSL. Apparently 150 gb is my max and if I go over it this next month, they'll charge me $10 for every 50 gb I go over. Haven't bothered to look to see if that's new or common yet.

I made the choice and cut directv this month after 3yrs i loved it but totally unnecessary. I have a samsung smart tv, OTA for local channels and apple tv.

I also went ahead and jailbroke my ipad and my iphone and now get everything i was paying for(live streams all networks and any movie even the newest stuff out) and more for free all 1080p quality.

The only issue i have now is finding a good ISP i ordered uverse and promptly cancelled. That shit blew it was barely getting 1Mb. I have their mobile 4g LTE hotspot and its fast as fuck 14Mb, for what it is but Usage is limited to 10GB per month and when streaming it eats that shit up quick.

Im on the phone with time warner as i type hope they have a better service in my are since verizon doesnt service my area.
hope this helps in making your decision.

yeah its pretty common now since everyone is going to subscription based streaming. I know with Uverse i had a 250GB cap

I do not. I did for a while but then I realized I never watched it. Instead I just have Netflix and will watch Hulu from time to time.

Charter here. About $175/month for all the channels plus their 30 meg internet. Usually averages closer to 50 megs though.

I have dish with two Hoppers, three Joeys, 250 channels, HD, and Sling. My bill is now $110 after a recent price increase. We watch to much T.V. not to have it.

I just got a roku and we are trying to make the transition. We were really not impressed with huluplus. Netflix may be are main source of TV.

Anyone else have any good channels on the roku?

I'm REALLY tired of paying $200/mo for cable and internet. It's absurd.

I dont watch TV much at all, so I dont think it will be an issue for me. The wife will start watching some sort of show, and DVR it, I dont think she has considered that part of it.

We have to have internet since my gf works from home. We got the basic cable to get AMC food channels ect and it isn't too bad. 160 and her job pays like 70 for internet so it's not an outrageous bill for us

Netfix, hulu plus and amazon instant all suck in my opinion. they all have about the same content and charge the same but never truly get anything new (streaming). you have to wait till 6months to a yr for new seasons to pop in there. Youll eventually get tired of the same old stuff or random shit no ones heard of.

Look up xbmc on apple tv2 or android.
