The burning smell and smoke is from the air bags.

Fun fact: airbags are deployed by a chemical reaction that generates nitrogen to fill the bag and the powder that fills the air is mostly corn starch / talcum powder (used to keep the bag pliable whIle folded up inside the steering wheel)

But they smell like shit, and if you get airbag burns it's usually from the small amount of sodium hydroxide generated in the reaction that's then vented out of the back of the bag to keep it from opening too fast and doing even more damage.

What a fucked up night. We're just coming back from fishing when I see a bike pass us like crazy. Not even five seconds later. We got clipped in the back Buy a car doing well over 100 mph. Everything happened like it was in slow motion. I think we rolled over twice I'm not too sure. I just remember seeing all the airbags go off and holding on for dear life. I'm fine. But my cousin broke his leg. The driver of the car that hit us was drunk no insurance no drivers license. His beer cans we're later doll over the road from the accident. Cops took him to jail. Got clipped in the right rear quarter panel. His car actually went underneath our truck. That hit was so violent it snapped the axle clean off. The quarter panel looks like a pretzel. Right front wheel snapped off.

I don't know if it was because of the airbags or what but something smelled like it was burning. And the cockpit was full of smoke. I'm on the passenger side trying to get out of my fucking door won't open. Had to fucking crawl out the driver side. I'm going to have plenty of insurance questions for y'all tomorrow.
