Yeah, because due to our PCness we care what other countries think about how we administer punishment.

yet she/they still flock over here by the masses. I wish they thought we were crazy enough so they'd stay home.

The guy was wasn't at all phased by a taser. He calmly pulled the prods out of his face, then came after the cop with a conduit bender. The force was justified. If the dude was coming after you, in your home, you wouldn't sweep the leg, you'd fire and keep firing until the dude was down and not moving. In the split second that you're shooting for your life, do you really think there's enough time to count off rounds or question whether its excessive force?

My grandfather always told me: 1) If you point a gun, be sure you're going to shoot; 2) Keep shooting until they stop moving or you run out of bullets; 3) Don't render aid, just get out and call the police. If you show compassion, you may get yourself killed or charged with murder, instead of self-defense.

^the crackhead that was on pcp in my grandmas house took a .357 magnum to the chest and then crawled 30-40 feet out of the house and sat up and went to go for his gun again. the second .357 to the chest laid him out but he was still fighting to sit up

You know, come to think of it maybe parkland could give us the special cocktail we could put in a dart gun. LOL

We have three guys that I know of who we have had multiple encounters with that are on PCP. We actually have cautions on their addresses to send three officers minimum. That shit is bad news and everytime those guys are out of their f-ing minds and are ready to rumble. Even with no weopon in hand they are a real threat because they feel nothing and are amped up. I detailed in another thread that the last one we took in went to jail with out a struggle but was talking to the moon when we hand cuffed him. Ten hours later we get a call at the jail that he needs to be extracted he has tore up a jail cell. He had used his elbows to punch thru the super thick glass of a holding cell. You could see into the center of both of his elbows and one foot was tore up pretty good. The cell looked right out of a nightmare on elm street with blood everywhere and dripping off the ceiling. It took eight of us with two riot shields to extract him. Tazer and pepper had no affect on him. Even after we got him loaded on the med unit it took four of us bigger guys to hold him on the stretcher and he was strapped down and hand cuffed. We got to parkland and it seamed like everyone in the hospital ran into the room to help. Finally they gave him a special cocktail and he was out like a light. PCP is no joke.

It's real easy to sit back and scrutinize when you've never been in a similar situation.
I would venture to say that you've never pointed a loaded people at someone? Am I right or wrong?
You're correct, I never pointed a loaded people at someone or a gun for that matter.

What mentality ? to ask questions ? jeez

I didn't see that he was still standing after being shot 4-6 times (watch on my phone), so that changes my opinion.

    That sums it up, period.

Why not just shoot him once in the leg ? Are ya'll suppossed to shoot to kill when you fire your weapon, is that the objective in that situation ? Seriously, I'd like to know.

I betting after a shot or two to the leg, the cops could have taken control of the situation from that point. If it was a gun he pointed at the cop, I would understand.
In a public situation with someone that's obviously caused enough of a disturbance to bring on a dozen POs with K9, you're not going to try to pull off some Wild West sharp shooting shit. The last thing you want to do is miss and send a round off the concrete into a bystander. Aim for the biggest target, and pull the trigger until the target is no longer a threat.

And, even if you did shoot someone in the leg, if you hit the femoral artery the guy is dead within minutes due to bleeding out.

Cops aren't marksmen. Esepcially under stress. Don't believe the movies or video games that you can "choose your shot" because your can't. You aim at the biggest thing that's moving the least and pull the trigger til you are sure you hit it and the threat has stopped.

If you have to apply force, go all out until the situation is resolved.
1 bullet or 21 bullets, finish the job.

Yup. Do NOT swing or even threaten to swing a large pointy object at an officer after being told repeatedly to "GET DOWN" and shaking off a taser... tasrers have a purpose: to be less lethal than a firearm. Taser didn't work? You're about to meet the next best thing.

Ok, I get it on the leg shot. So the part in bold, if you have to pull your weapon, cops are to shoot to kil, that's SOP ? When is the situation resolved, 1 shot or 11 ? (I think that's how many I heard). Until they are down or dead ?
The situation is resolved when the target threat is no longer a threat. Based on the reactions of the target (not being fazed by the taser, ignoring all commands, eating FIVE rounds before even turning, etc) I'm betting they knew this guy wasn't on the level... there was NO hesitation by the K9 keeper to plug him once he wound up and went at the other officer.

If the guy dropped after one, I bet he would have only eaten a few rounds.

Sorry, Chief, if you eat 5 rounds point-blank after brushing off live taser leads, I might classify you as a zombie LOL!

I was thinking something along suicide by cop also.

As far as a combative/violent suspect, I'm fairly certain that the taser is the last line of force prior to deadly force.

Watch the video again: he ignores commands. He doesn't even seem miffed to get tased in the face. Multiple officers have drawn on him prior to even leaving the building he was in. He turned and leveled what looks like a 10lb sledge hammer at the officer who tased him. These are not the actions of a guy that wants to cooperate and/or surrender.

One shot or 121 shots, whatever it takes to stop the threat. In this case, I think 11 shots from multiple officers is OK, especially since he appeared to still be moving afterwards.

    lmmfgdao!!!!!

No shit, if that dude would have come out side and layed down on the ground, he could have been in jail wating to get bailed out, instead because of his actions hes at the morgue.

I've been in that exact same situation, cops had drawn down on me and I obeyed all of their commands, well except when they told me to lay in the mud and I refused, he then said that he was going to shoot me in the face if I didn't, he didn't sound like he was bullshittin, so I wallered in the mud til they handcuffed me and took me to jail, lol!
