Video: passing emergency vehicle citation BS

You guys are drunk if you think traffic in the video was moving anywhere near 50 mph.

Guest repliedI could tell watching that vid that traffic was really slow. That is why I would have dismissed it. Looks like traffic was already slower than required, and he is obviously trying to get over, on top of it. He is guilty of driving a Corvette. Don't care if he is a jackass or not. If that was a citable offense this entire website would fill the gap in DPDs budget for the next ten years.

Bottom line is that you jumped on it after passing him and had the bad luck that he was clearing that stop when you did it. He no doubt took it as a challenge, and you lost.

It doesn't matter at all anyway since my citation allegedly happened within the first 5 seconds of the video when "I blew past him". <--- those were the troopers words when he pulled me over.

Why does the cop have music playing? I guess that is why cops are so damn slow to crime scenes cause they can't hear the dispatch radio. I would for sure point that out to the judge once you lose this case.

Originally posted by quikag View PostI disagree completely. Speed limit was 70mph and I was below 50mph. Traffic was heavy and I made an attempt to get over to no avail due to the Pathfinder blocking me. I passed the trooper and immediately sped back up. He heard my car because it's louder than most cars with the exhaust valves open. I did not violate the statue he cited me for and that's the truth.
Transportation Code § 545.157
"(a) On approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle using visual signals that meet the requirements of Sections 547.305 and 547.702, or a stationary tow truck using equipment authorized by Section 547.305(d), an operator, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall:
(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle or tow truck when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the direction of the emergency vehicle or tow truck; or
(2) slow to a speed not to exceed:
(A) 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit when the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour or more; or
(B) five miles per hour when the posted speed limit is less than 25 miles per hour."

That tape justifys the officers citation and you will likely get full charge in court. Your better off not fighting this and just paying.

I'm guessing you used the same tact with the officer that you have used in this thread...

Your lawyer will probably be able to get you out of it. But at the end of the day you had to spend a little money because you acted like an ass. Carry on!
I do agree that he was hauling balls after getting past the cop but that is not what is at question at this point.
Another thing I hate is when cops pick the busiest fucking area to decide to pull people over. This does nothing more than cause more problems as dip shits love slamming on there brakes when they see a cop or like to slow down 20 under even if they are in the outside lane.
