You just don't get it, do you? The time frame of eroding our Civil Liberties is irrelevant. The fact that our Civil Liberties are being eroded AT ALL is the issue.

Just because the SC comes out with a ruling on Monday, doesn't mean that departments go out and start practicing the result on Tuesday.

A department's legal will get this, review it, have meetings with the DA's office, and come to an opinion on how this ruling will effect the policies. They will more than likely weigh risk/liability more than the benefit of getting drugs off the street and highly restrict the use of this ruling.

That is a VERY condensed version, but you get the point. It could be MONTHS before we get handed a new policy. It's not like Legal/Command will be ignorant of the possibilty of misuse. It will be highly considered, as it should.

You have the good fortune to work from one of the better departments in Texas
Do you really think every large city in America has as clean of a department as Fort Worth? Take Dallas for example or see post 68 http://www.dfwmustangs.net/forums/sh...3&postcount=68 for example where LA police officers were pretending to have warrants ala Training Day style so they could steal from residents. That was an ONGOING problem with more than one fuck up. Can you verify that you know what goes into getting a no knock warrant in Atlanta? or NYC? or Memphis? Have been around the block so many times that you can guarantee this board without a doubt that EVERY SINGLE police depart in mid to major cities across America is as stringent with their policies as Fort Worth? There is at least 1 post every few months about a police fuck up somewhere in the nation, more often than not it's in a medium to large city. It's not a stretch to assume that the 4th amendment is violated even in minor ways more often than it's reported.
