I want in, and would like to get a kayak for fishing and getting to good camping spots, but I need a large weight capacity. North of 400 lbs, for sure. Am I SOL?

I have plans for this weekend but I'm thinking we keep at look at the weather the next couple weeks. It would be a fun little trip for a group to take off for a few hours.

Here's a write up I did on one of my trips. There's a bunch of pictures of my scrambler and my buddies Malibu 2 (Both Ocean Kayaks) loaded down. Also a good forum for those of you who like kayak fishing

And just for reference in regards to weight I was around 190 in these photos. By hull space, I ment internal as far as my scrambler. You will definitely want an internal hull or you will get rolled if it's choppy
That looks like it was an awesome trip. Beautiful fish you guys were catching! That 2XL looks like it's made for more gear.

I was chomping at the bit to do a Devil's River trip with Shane Davies--especially after the recent reports here and the fact that I was forced to turn down two previous chances to fish with him (because of work). So I was already pumped up when we put in, but I was still immediately struc...

Yeah, that's what I have thought about. Although, it's likely that if I was to do any camping based out of something like that, it would probably just be me. Leah isn't really interested in the "backpacking" type of camping.

Yeah, weight would be my primary concern, because I am not a small guy anyways and a number of the cheaper ones I have seen are only rated to 300lbs. I would also want one where the cargo area goes into the hull rather than on top, to keep the center of gravity low.

Mainly want to be able to paddle around in coves and smaller lakes.

By cargo space I just mean enough for a decent sized backpack (like a hiking pack).

Also considering Canoes as an alternative. I don't plan on shooting rapids or anything, so that may be a better option. But that presents other issues due to the larger size and weight.

As far as you want I suppose. Just be back before they close and want to go home.

I was out for a few hours last time I went.
