I know for a fact that most C/O reps working offshore are bringing average 1500+ a day.

    3K x 52wks = $156K

    $156K < 250-300k

I chuckled at that as well.

I have worked on the rigs, but I am in an office now. Much better lifestyle, and still great $. Had to put in my time in the field first.

Downshift, what energy company does your cousin work for, or what's his name if you don't mind my asking? I may know him.

sc281, I worked on a drilling rig for 5 months. The money was good, but the lifestyle sucked, and my rig personnel sucked balls. I was on track to make 62,400 as a floorhand but all the BS wasn't worth it. If I could be home every night and the rig guys weren't 1)on drugs 2) misers it may be a different story.

You may be off for 6 months out of the year (I was doing a 7 on 7 off schedule) but your first couple of days is spent just sleeping. 12-16 hour days for a week straight. I don't think there was a week I worked that I didn't clock less than 100 hours.

I've been working the field for the last 6 years. Three of which were overseas as a consultant/auditor for OHSAS management systems and risk management. I'm now back stateside as a regulatory & compliance manager for a service company. Majority of my work is offshore dealing with SEMS.
