I wouldn't call it a fairy tale.......this place is a home away from home for most of us and if we were told what was going on, had the facts, and knew what the consiquences were of a sell to a canadian company, then quite a few of us would have put up whatever we could to save "our home". I'm surprised you don't feel the same way!!! If there was a short fall in money to keep it going and it was made public then we would kick in some bucks to keep it afloat. Similar to the shirts and donations that are going on at this new site. As many of us on here love and hate each other we are still a family and you tell me what family doesn't have disFUNction in it!
I would have kicked in some moneys to keep it going. Just saying.

Once again, I know all that. But to say we could have raised $20k in a matter of say weeks or even a couple months is crazy. I did donate on the old board when donations first started so I have been there and done that. As much as I would love to believe it, I dont see the board raising $20k when it was obvious we barely broke even maintaining it most of the time.
I understand Chris' perspective, and why he decided to sell the site... I do think things should have been handled differently and he should of declined selling the site if he could not discuss the sale with the members/users prior to the sale.
FINALLY! Someone that knows the difference between sell and sale. This new site is off to a good start.
For sure, it could have been $1500 in which case Jose buying it would have been more plausible.
As nice of a fairy tale as that is, it sounds like we barely mustered up enough cash to pay maintnance much less $20k within a short period to buy the site. I could be way off base and I hope I am but that is the way I look at it.

It's actually a little amusing to me to watch him try and do damage control when he has no personal relationship with any of the people who post there any more. It's just like sales. People buy from people, not companies.
The new owners were probably urging him to step up and say something.
