I feel calling it an over reaction just goes to show he did not respect the thoughts and feelings of those members who helped get the traffic he had that ultimately allowed him to sell the site.

Agreed. Without knowing how much he got for it, there is no way to tell. But even by Chris's statement, Jose wasn't even given a chance to get a number or put some cash together. It's just a shitty situation all together. I can't really say that I'm all that surprised though, considering Chris never really took part in the social aspect of the board. The last time I saw Chris was at a GC2 cruise to the lake if that tells you how long it's been. lol.Originally posted by 8mpg View Postthe only problem with your statement is we dont know if the site even really sold for that much. Might have been $5k and Chris was happy to dump it.

For sure, it could have been $1500 in which case Jose buying it would have been more plausible.Originally posted by 8mpg View Postthe only problem with your statement is we dont know if the site even really sold for that much. Might have been $5k and Chris was happy to dump it.
I bet if Jose couldnt swing the cash, stangers would have come to the rescue.
As nice of a fairy tale as that is, it sounds like we barely mustered up enough cash to pay maintnance much less $20k within a short period to buy the site. I could be way off base and I hope I am but that is the way I look at it.Originally posted by Sean88gt View Post1000 active members, say the average donation was $20, then yeah, I'd say so.

Jose could have had an IPO in essence with shares. We could have post whored and all made money after we sold outOriginally posted by BlackSnake View PostLMAO! The funny thing is that Chris stood the chance in making more money by selling it to Jose in our behalf.

Well, i'm sure this site would have been made and we'd all be over here pissed off because a shitty company bought the old site.Originally posted by Lone Sailor View PostTo go a step further, what would be your reaction if the tables would have been turned and Jose had agreed to sell it without letting Chris know anything in advance? Not saying Jose would ever do something like that, just a scenario.
I'd probably also be giving Chris some numbers of lawyers to call since the site was sold by someone who doesn't own the "title".

I dont know Jose like that so I dont know if that is a drop in the bucket for him or not. Truely sounds like autoguide sent Chris an offer and this was something lingering in the back of his mind for some time and took it on a spur of the moment decision.
There is talk about trying to arrange a meeting with Jose but no idea if it was before, during or after. Im willing to bet it was after and Jose was already pissed about it though.

The value of the site is not in the hardware or software but in the member base. Without that you just have a computer sitting there.Originally posted by DOHCTR View PostIf Chris was in fact the man responsible for all of the finances, upkeep, etc of the site... then that seems a hell of a lot more significant than being the "face" of a website.
Think of it this way-
Jimmie Johnson is the face of Lowes on the NASCAR track, but ill be damned if he has any say in what goes on in the Lowes corporation... and Lowes could sell the team and kick ole' Jimmie the fuck out if they damn well pleased.
If what Chris said is true, then it was his site. The man who pays for everything and maintains it all has more of a leg to stand on (from a legal standpoint) than a guy with no formal contract regarding initial ownership or responsibilities.
I feel for Jose, but I have never met him (or Chris) so I feel that I am relatively neutral in this whole matter. I apologize if my post comes off as displeasing or rude.
