I have a 15 year old (ya, I had a kid when I was a kid) and I'm going to approach the situation the same way. I'm paying for everything so all he has to do is concentrate on his schoolwork and other activities. If he's going to fuck it off like that, then he can do it on his own.

I just decided to not " Fear the Gear" and go 4:56's. They are a good price, and I might as well do it while my parents pick up my gas tab. Problem is i'm still broke as hell and can't afford the install; henceforth they will sit here and mock me until summer. My first paycheck will go straight to the install and some new 315/30 DR's Should wake the cobra up just a tad!

My 97 Cobra ran 13.4 at San Antonio Raceway with just 4.56's, K&N Filter, OR H-Pipe, MAC catback, and MIL Eliminators. It's been years ago so I don't recall the mph, but my buddy in his Mach 1 was running exactly the same times so I can remember that part.
