I remember in boot camp the DI's spoofed the entire company for a good 30-45 minutes that North Korea had invaded South Korea overnight. Everone was told their MOS was being changed to 03xx, boot camp was cut to nine weeks instead of thirteen, and all liberty after graduation was cancelled. Some kids started crying. It was fucking hilarious.

They showed us the same thing. It would be a repeat of the first Korean war with the UN being pushed back to Busan harbor and then McArthar landing in Incheon to split them down the middle. Between the two it would be a massacre of US and South Korean troops.

We had the Hwmvs and I was a gun truck driver. I had a TOW and .50 on the truck along with my M4. We got blanks and that was it. And were told if the North goes south, Camp Greaves wouldn't know it. We'd be dead before the alert went off

We were told we would know the war started, and our job would be to launch all jets and then grab M16s and wait for the North to hit. Only survivors were going to be the pilots that managed to launch their planes. I guess they figured one magazine was all we would have time to fire before they destroyed us. Luckily I never got to find out the truth; if they weren't fucking with us, then that is going to be one hell of a fight, I mean ass kicking.

Also would like to mention that our high tech training often results in us running around either yelling 'bang bang' or using laser tag gear that is 10 years old, doesn't work and takes 9 volt batteries.

Or they put us in a declared war zone like Korea and give you an M16 and 1 magazine of blanks and tell you that is what you get if the north actually invades (substitute the blanks for live ammo), along with Nam era body armor. There are good things (tactically) to be learned from military training, and there are good things (poor training and gear), to be learned from military training.

I could see him inviting or begging for other countries to come in and disarm us (using the UN) but they would leave with their tails between their legs in under 1 year. Our Northern states would roll over for them but when they got to the south it would be game over.
