You nor I will NEVER know because it has escalated to such a degree that it has to be handled differently now than if they had just arrested the guy peacefully.


From what I've read, which is all spoon fed media stuff, they got a call that someone was breaking into cars... they show up and see him sitting nearby and approach him for questioning at which point he took off running as they were approaching.... which spurred a short foot chase that ended with him on the ground and quickly getting his face smashed into a curb. Backup arrived and threw in a few kicks/punches/tazes for good measure since he was fighting back. I personally think at that point he was fighting for his life and when they couldn't get him to be still (aka quit fighting for his life) they kept on until he quit moving ... then the guy died.


I honestly think he was guilty of SOMETHING or he wouldn't have tried to run. ALL of that, however, went out the door the very minute the guilty actions of the officers outweighed his POSSIBLE guilty actions of being in possession of stolen property and trying to out run the police.

Now let me ask this....

If he was 100000% guilty of breaking into cars, trying to evade police, and resist arrest... does that make this sort of this okay? When is enough ... ENOUGH? What are the rules on this sort of thing... do they have a "only beat them half to death" sort of clause in employee handbooks?

Really? I'm pretty sure cops duck calls that could endanger their lives from time to time, which is why you have response times of 30 minutes plus for robberies. You want to talk about a scary job? Try walking through a city where you're not sure if there are IED's, VED's, and EVERYONE in the city wants you dead. That's danger. Carrying a weapon on your hip, with reinforcement a call away, in an air conditioned squad car, putting ground up sheet rock in cars or planting weapons or other shit in someone's vehicle you don't like is a coward and those bastards should be publicly hung to make a point.

We get hit with military tribunals and war crime tribunals. Not 15 day vacations, not "on suspension pending an investigation". The fact military overseas are held to a higher standard than police here is pissing me off every time I see something like this. We aren't even sworn to protect Iraqis as police are here (although that pesky Supreme court ruled that cops have no obligation to protect citizens).

OK I lied, this will be my last post. I have openly stated on numerous occasions that officers who break the law need to be punished severely for those crimes. I said the same about the guys who killed the homeless man. I support the blue line, but only the officers who do their jobs diligently, and with honor and ethics. Not the officers you've mentioned here today.
