what do i do? i try to figure out why people like you DONT understand what i want.... for the millionth time.... i know its going to be close to 15k for whatever i do now, i really dont care anymore. if thats what its gonna cost, for soemthing that im going to be happy with, then ya know what? im gona go for it. im 23 yrs old, single, and have NO BILLS. i could tell ya what else i have in mind for the rest of the car, but i wouldnt want you to think that im trying to buy all new everything for 20 bucks. that would be wrong. i plan on spending around 40,000 on the whole car. will it just be a trailer queen when its all done and im in my mid 30's ??? fuck no. thats a whole " notha " story though right?

this is what im going to do now...
since NOBODY,, as in ( performance shops etc etc... ) can understand WHAT i want as far as an engine build, im just going to do it myself with the help of my dad and my uncle. i have tried and tried with damn near everybody, but they dont understand what i want and why i want it that way. its simple, all i want is a rock solid dart block, preferably 331 c.i. with a forged/balanced crank, forged connecting rods, forged pistons ( dished for lower compression ) trickflow or AFR heads that would work well for boost, and of course a cam, intake manifold throttle body that will be easy on the street, and of course deliver max performance under pressure

Problem #1 - good build, but WAY overkill for 500HP. No problem. You put the parts list together AND your complaining about the price. See my post about the cost of JUST the heads, block and rotating ass'y.

.... its THAT easy... i've lowered my HP goal to 475-500 at the wheels, so i dont understand why they all try telling me that its going to be NORTH of 15,000 for just the engine, nothing else... its either that or they all try telling me i need a 347 or 363 to get the job done, but that will use more oil on street driving, blah blah or they just dont email me back. so i have began my research and started building a list, found a nice dart block, fully machined and choice of any crank, rods, and piston setup for a decent price. im just stuck on that, idk what heads to go with.

The next "problem". You called the ENGINE BUILDER and told them what you wanted power wise. They told you what you needed, and the price of what you wanted - 15K. But complained. One - the engine is WAY overbuilt, but that's fine, I preach overbuilding anyways, especially in THIS sense. 2)This particular combo, you'd damn near have to run a stock cam to make less power than what you are asking for N/A! (with any decent heads and camshaft selection, but could most likely be done with off the shelf parts!)

the power adder will be a new procharger setup, if i can tune for 12-15 psi OR whatever psi needed to reach my goal. whether it be 9 psi from the procharger and some help from water/meth, i dont care. for the compression ratio, i do understand that i need to stay in the low 8's and maybe 9, but then again, heads can change that as well so thats where im confused. also, there is a long list of probably 1 million other parts i need so any help, or suggestions would be appreciated. sorry for the long post, but i just had to get this off my chest. thanks ahead of time

See ALL of my previous posts - you don't NEED a blower if you are building any decent engine out of the parts listed above. The engine alone will make that power!!

Secondly, your initial posts say procharger - but you flipflop back and forth wtih Vortech?

Shit, just get a stud-girdled block and save your money from the Dart ass-raping. You're not looking for enough power to matter anyway.

Look at some used engines on www.racingjunk.com Most of them with a cam change will be street friendly. You ask for help but ignore everything. Might just take the car to HPP and have them take all your money.

no guy, here is what you're missing,, im not going to have it built FOR 500 HP right outta the shop...... with the right setup, such as everything you mentioned above, i can have it built to come out with around 400... now,,, 400+100 is what turbostang??? 500 right? yes, so thats 100 hp i have to play with, if i want it, then hey, give it the boost it needs to make it,, if i want more from there,,, 550,575,600 then i will go water/meth on top of the boost..... isnt that easy to understand? wtf?

How do you know a "331" won't make "even 400"? And if this were the case, WHY would you spend 15K on it for that small amount of power?

You are so blind, you are simply ignoring the facts. IF you build a 331, 347, 408 etc.. with a decent set of heads, a decent camshaft etc. it WILL make 500HP or damn near it.

SO, if you have this engine that makes damn near 500HP - why do you need to put a blower on it to make 500HP?

You may not want all motor power - ok, but you are getting it. You build a dart block motor with decent parts. You are getting that power, like it or not.

You are trying your damndest to spend foolish money, the kind people on here (including me) are tryint to keep you from bieng a fool and bieng taken by someone on the other end of your open-ended email inquiries.

The problem is, you have your shit out of order and you balk at the people who try to steer you in the right direction because you are so damn hard headed and have to do shit "YOUR WAY".

You STILL don't get it though. If you build an engine even remotely close to what I have, which is what you've pretty much spec'd out - it WILL produce 500HP. Why do you need a supercharger on top of that to make 500HP when you already fucking have it?

Now, the part you glazed over - the money. I spec'd only 3 things above. Those things are already approaching 6500$. The spec'd parts above do NOT include valve train, balancer.. fuck it, it's listed above....You balked at the fact that these "shops" have quoted you 13K or 15K or whatever it was, IMHO - it's not too far off considering they'd assemble it too.

Now that's all aside - you're gonna tear down your 306 after you get it out of the car and put it back together over and over? for what? so you know how to unscrew some bolts and put them back in where they came from? Taking apart an engine and putting it back together is one thing. Making it run is another, and making it LIVE is...well.. you guessed it, another. To further complicate things - tuning it... but you knew that, because your going to read about it, right?

What gives me the right to say you are not making any sense? The same fucking right that allows you to make your asenine redundant posts, and the same right that allows everyone else to respond to them. You posted this dribble on a public forum, you can expect to get answers. some of which you may not like. I don't know about you, but when I want an answer, I need a decent one - and that requires someone posting the relevant details such as "FULL INTENT" - not someone bitching about a 15,000$ price tag when they ask for GOLD, but expect a brass price.
